Underrated Nordic Songs That You Should Listen

North European countries are known for their success in the music industry recently. Countries such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and even Faroese Islands presented us many iconic songs. However, there are also Nordic songs that are underrated and deserves more attention. On this list, we will look at 10 underrated Nordic songs.

1. Alex Vargas – Higher Love

Higher Love is a song by Danish singer-songwriter Alex Vargas. He also co-wrote Bulgaria’s 2017 entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song called “Beautiful Mess” placed 2nd in the contest, which is Bulgaria’s best ever result.

2. Eivør – Only Love

Only Love is a 2020 pop song by Faroese singer Eivør Pálsdóttir. It is a song about love that you lose when you break-up in order to find the real love.

3. Gabrielle – Tenker på deg

Tenker på deg is a song by Norwegian electro-pop singer Gabrielle Leithaug. The song title means “Thinking about you” in Norwegian and it is about a woman who still thinks of a guy who broke-up with her because of someone else.

4. Robyn – Honey

Honey is a 2018 pop and techno song from the same titled album of the Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn. Honey was also featured in the Swedish-Georgian 2019 drama film titled “And Then We Danced”, directed by Levan Akin. It also was featured in the sixth episode of Girls’ final season.

5. Sondre Justad – Det e over

Det e over is a song by Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Justad, meaning “It is over”. He also sings his songs in Northern Norwegian dialect.

6. Anna of the North – Lovers

Lovers is a song by electro-pop and dream-pop singer Anna Lotterud’s solo project Anna of the North. The song was also used in a scene of Netflix film To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.

7. Oscar Enestad – I Love It

I Love It is a song by Swedish singer Oscar Enestad. In 2019 he participated in Melodifestivalen, which is Swedish National Selection for Eurovision Song Contest, with his song but placed last in second semi final, possible because of the meaning behind the lyrics. I Love It is about the people who struggle accepting the love between Enestad and his 28 years older girlfriend Cecilia Dahlbom.
