Nina Tribus: Bring Back the Divas!

Nina Tribus is a dark-pop singer with avant-garde style and striking diva image. Her style and “big vocals” are also definitely two things you should not ignore while listening to her. Also, her music videos feel like as if she came straight out of an opulent baroque art.

Primadonna (2019)

Primadonna is Nina’s debut single. In the song, she criticizes the record label executives because they told her to sing less to be successful today. She also calls herself “Primadonna” in the song out of spite and mockery since it is a term used for temperamental and capricious divas.

Divas are dead, no one will care
They say ‘Sing a bit less, we’re not impressed.’
Keep telling me ‘Primadonnas don’t sell’
Too bad you can deal with it or go to hell

Medusa (2020)

Medusa is Nina’s second single. It tells the story of Medusa, a mythical creature almost everyone knows. In the verse “Still feeling like a human but only seen as a snake” she implies that Medusa was labelled with monstrous look she does not identify with and this is something we experience in our modern lives.

Look away, look away, look away, look away
If Medusa stares at you
She’ll come to find you, prey on you
They’ll be nothing you can do

Beneath My Throne (2020)

Beneath My Throne is a Nina Tribus song that is about proving the people wrong those who have doubted your abilities, suppressed and betrayed you.

Break their bones, prove them wrong
My blue blood is cold as stone
Most evil demanour they’ve ever known
They will eat from the ground beneath my throne

Napoleon (2021)

Napoleon is the most recent single of the singer. In an article for LeFutureWave, Nina Tribus has stated that Napoleon is a song that presents itself as a bold, fun dance track, yet if you look closer everything is a little bit like on the edge of a knife. One moment you have the world in your hands and the next it’s at your neck. Lose your balance and you can fall off the edge pretty quickly. Or of your throne for that matter.”

No way x3
I won’t throw away my fate, my fate, my fate
I’ll take the crown before it’s too late, too late, too late
Like Napoleon I won’t wait x3

She also covered many songs of singers such as Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Billie Eilish and more on her YouTube channel.
