7 Most Underrated Lady Gaga Songs

It is no surprise that with her avant-garde style, 11 Grammy award-winning Lady Gaga has influenced the pop music, fashion and artists such as Miley Cyrus, Greyson Chance, Rina Sawayama, Allie X and Blackpink.  Her music and activism lead her to become an icon for the mistreated and LGBTQ+ community. Lady Gaga has many songs which are listened world-wide, but there are some Gaga songs that are underrated or even forgotten. I’d like to remind everyone of these songs on my list!

1- Enigma | Chromatica

First of the underrated Lady Gaga songs comes from Gaga’s recent album Chromatica. Probably inspired by the name of Gaga’s second residency Enigma, this song was one of the first songs recorded for the album Chromatica and shaped the concept of it. It tells the story of the singer’s romantic interest on probably a night-only mystery where she is “his enigma”. It is on our underrated list because it is not fully appreciated.

“I’ll, I’ll be your enigma”

2- Replay | Chromatica

Replay, another song from Gaga’s newest album, has quite powerful and dark lyrics even though it gives high-energy vibes. It tells the story of a toxic relationship and a monster-like partner who happens to be causing Gaga to relive some kind of psychological trauma which she has endured.

3- The Fame | The Fame

This song is not listened much as other songs, even though it bears the same name with the album. Gaga developed a whole campaign, aesthetic, persona for this song. Its title explains the meaning of the song clearly; pop culture, the media life, celebrity life and its after effects.

4- Americano | Born this Way

Americano expresses what the American Dream means to her. She describes the song as “a big mariachi techno-house record, where I am singing about immigration law and gay marriage and all sorts of things that have to do with disenfranchised communities in America.” and says, “America was once the land of the free, and now [they’re] telling everyone to get the f*** out.”

5- Donatella | ARTPOP

Lady Gaga explains the meaning behind the lyrics as “It’s about being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you – being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what. Maybe she’s a bitch, maybe she’s too skinny, maybe she’s too rich, maybe she’s too out there. Or, maybe she’s brilliant, maybe she’s intelligent, maybe she’s strong, maybe she’s everything, maybe she’s Donatella.

6- Dope | ARTPOP

Dope is a song that symbolizes Gaga’s saying “I’m sorry” to all the people she cares about, her fans, family, and friends. Her marijuana addiction shared as an inspiration to her writing this song.

”My heart would break without you
Might not awake without you
Been hurting low from living high for so long
I’m sorry and I love you’

7- Gypsy | ARTPOP

Gypsy is a song about travelling the world and feeling lonely but realizing she is not lonely when she has her true love by her side, and that he is her home.
