You can learn the details of the countries that have a rehearsal today by following our news all day.
🇬🇪 Tornike Kipiani – You
Vocally this was a very solid performance as Tornike delivered a very high quality rehearsal. The staging however doesn’t blow anyone away. It starts very dark with sombre blue wave patterns on the back LED before illuminating with bright lights. The lyrics of the some also get projected onto his body in an interesting effect. The intimacy of the staging does work well with the lyrics of the song, emphasising the heartfelt nature of it. This, however doesn’t save it from mediocrity and there was nothing here that would signal it has any chance of qualifying.
🇦🇱 Anxhela – Karma
Albania have really brought some incredible staging. A single artist on stage can feel empty but the incredible use of the LED keeps it feeling active and busy. She completely owns it. The imagery is of storms and fires, with dry ice surrounding her at the end. What really stands out is the mix of LED and traditional lighting as together they create an almost strobe light illumination that is hard to look away from. Anxhela wore a white gold/silver dress with studded diamonds that stood out in the darkness of the backdrop. Truly stunning performance without even mentioning her vocals which were also perfect. Wow.
🇵🇹 The Black Mamba – Love Is On My Side
Portugal have delivered something really innovative here. Starting in black and white with a smaller aspect ratio, before exploding into colour with blue before transitioning into gold. The imagery shows a city in an almost art deco style before the lead singer walks in tandem with a projected women on the transparent screen. The staging feels like a journey and its soothing tones only emphasise this. The entire band were wearing very stylised tuxedo’s that fit the ‘time period’ of the song. Additionally the vocals were perfect. Very impressive.
🇧🇬 Victoria – Growing Up Is Getting Old
Bulgaria’s staging is very simple, without the flashy LED elements we have seen in so many acts this year. But it doesn’t need it. Her soothing vocals tell the story as she sits atop a small rock feature spinning in the middle of the stage. This is surrounded by water illustrating the loneliness of the lyrics. The visuals including her costume point to the dreamlike imagery of the staging. Additionally the camera work was wonderful and really brings to life her emotions. Her vocals as expected were also perfect. Minimalist yet powerful.
🇫🇮 Blind Channel – Dark Side
Blind Channel’s performance was almost the same as the national final performance. Lights are used successfully. The lights in the verses were dark blue and the lights in the chorus were red. The man in the background in the national final was changed. While there was a man figure in the national final, there were 2 men figures now. Also, pyros and fogs were used effectively. The outfits of the band members were all black and the vocals of the soloists were perfect.
🇱🇻 Samanta Tina – The Moon Is Rising
Samanta Tina’s vocals were incredible. Samanta and the backvocalists have a green outfit. Green tones dominate the background at the beginning of the song. There are yellow and golden tones and intricate patterns in the background in the middle and end of the song. There are also 6 hand figures surrounding Samanta below in some part of the song, and the led under the stage has been used successfully.
🇨🇭 Gjon’s Tears – Tout l’universe
Gjon wears a black and loose, silver line outfit. On the stage there is a huge geometric probe with an extension in 3 axes. They are eventually leaving. The scene is dark, gray and white. There’s only light coming from the LEDs in the back. There were dynamic camera angles and Gjon dances suprisingly. Lights were strong and Gjon’s vocal were amazing.
🇩🇰 Fyr & Flamme – Øve Os På Hinanden
It was another performance that is the same as the national final. They wore the same outfits, and the background made up of purple and blue squares. They stand on a circular platform. In a part of the song, the soloist run to the platform which is the end of the catwalk.
