How Many People Watched Eurovision 2021 in Each Country?

The excitement of Eurovision 2021 is over and Italy has won.

The Eurovision Song Contest, which could not be held last year due to the pandemic, was held again after a year. The contest was broadcast live from many countries other than many participating countries. After the Eurovision final, the channels started to share the audience that watched the grand final of Eurovision.

We have compiled the audience numbers that have been announced for you so far.

🇮🇹 Italy

Italy broke its own record. 4.500.000 people watched the grand final of Eurovision 2021. 3.700.000 people watched the competition in 2017, and 3.500.000 people in 2019.

🇪🇸 Spain

If we look at previous years in Spain, Eurovision has received less attention. This year, 4.071.000 people watched the grand final. However, in 2018, this audience was 7.100.000 and also it was their record.

🇬🇷 Greece

In Greece, 2.035.000 people watched the grand final of Eurovision 2021. Greece’s record was 3.600.000 people following the grand final of Eurovision 2009.

🇷🇸 Serbia

Eurovision 2021 Serbia became the most watched grand final since 2012. 1.162.900 watched the grand final of Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

🇸🇪 Sweden

This year, the final night was watched by 2.900.000 viewers in Sweden. This number is 400,000 more than the number of viewers in 2019.

🇵🇹 Portugal

The final night was watched by 1.200.000 in Portugal.

🇷🇴 Romania

This year, in Romania, Eurovision was watched far below expectations again. The grand final was watched by 147.000 viewers. This number is 31.000 more than the number of viewers in 2017.

🇫🇮 Finland

In Finland, this year it was the most watched competition since 2007. The grand final was watched by 1.400.000 viewers.

🇳🇱 The Netherlands

5.400.000 viewers watched the grand final of Eurovision 2021. Being a host country has a huge impact on this. It was watched by 4.400.000 people in 2019, when the Netherlands won the Eurovision.

🇦🇹 Austria

596.000 viewers watched the grand final of Eurovision 2021. This number is the lowest one since 2013.

🇫🇷 France

One of the countries that watched the Eurovision final most is France. 5.492.00 viewers watched the grand final of the contest. This number is the highest number since 2009. 5.706.000 viewers watched the contest in 2009.

🇩🇪 Germany

The contest was watched by 7.700.000 viewers in Germany. This number was 340.000 lower than the grand final of Eurovision 2019.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

Despite being the last place with “null points”, Eurovision was watched by 7.400.000 viewers in the United Kingdom, making it highest number since 2014 which was 8.800.000 viewers. Also, the peak audience of the show in the United Kingdom was 8.400.000 and highest share of viewing audience with 48,5% since 1999.

🇦🇺 Australia

288.000 people watched the show in Australia. It was watched by 412.000 viewers in 2019.

🇨🇾 Cyprus

173.000 people watched the grand final of Eurovision 2021 in Cyprus.

🇳🇴 Norway

In Norway, 1.400.000 people watched the show. This is the highest viewer number since 2015.

🇩🇰 Denmark

533.000 people watched the grand final of Eurovision 2021. This is the lowest viewer number since 2007.

Ratio of viewers to the country population: 9,18%

🇪🇪 Estonia

Estonia recorded the lowest audience for the grand final of Eurovision. 150.000 people watched the show.

Ratio of viewers to the country population: 11,32%

🇵🇱Poland

The grand final of Eurovision was watched by 1.500.000 people in Poland, despite their non-qualification.

🇱🇹Lithuania

Lithuania broke an all-time record with 897,600 people watching the Eurovision Song Contest. Around 100,000 also watched the show online.

Ratio of viewers to the country population: 33,38% (37,1% if online viewers included)

  1. I’d love to know the numbers from where I live, the U.S. I know it must have increased from last time due to the movie, but it had seemed to be gaining viewers here before that.

    1. There aren’t any numbers on the US yet. We are editing the article every time there is a new country announcing its statistics.

  2. When it comes to the number of viewers, isn’t the market share more interesting than viewers in relation to population? For The Netherlands, for example, viewers Vs population is only 31% according to your data but the market share for ESC Grand Final was a whopping 78%, meaning that 78% of all Dutch people watching TV at that time were tuned in to ESC.
